Abstract(in English) A polarization splitter with a multilayer filter is investigated using a Pade-operator-based power-conserving fourth-order accurate beam-propagation method (BPM). First, the (1,1) Pade-operator based finite-difference BPM is developed for the analysis of the TM wave, with an emphasis on power conservation. After demonstrating the validity of the present method, we determine the angle of incidence to the multilayer filter and the number of layers. Extinction ratios of more than 20dB are obtained over a wide wavelength range of 1.25 μm to 1.6 μm.
