Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this report, a novel clustered dielectric particle (CDP) metamaterial (MTM), constituted by the periodic repetition of a molecule-like cluster of dielectric atom-like particles, is proposed. Both a closed-guiding and an open-radiating configuration have been demonstrated theoretically, and a left-handed (LH) passband was obtained from 5.36GHz to 6.33GHz in the closed-guiding structure, and a sharp pulse-like LH response around 10.8GHz was seen in the open-radiating structure. In addition, LH behaviors including a backward-wave propagation and negative group velocity were confirmed. Furthermore, experiments have been carried out for the confirmation of those theoretical predictions. The proposed MTM configuration has a significant potential for THz and optical MTM applications.
