Medical image processing for multi-organ, multi-disease computer-aided diagnosis

Abstract(in English) Multi-organ, multi-disease Computer-Aided Diagnosis (CAD) is a new concept in CAD. It can diagnose multiple diseases of multiple organs in a human body comprehensively and simultaneously. So far development of the novel CAD system has been promoted by the project of "Intelligent Assistance in Diagnosis of Multi-dimensional Medical Images", which is supported by Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research on Priority Areas of MEXT Japan. Once such CAD system is completed, it should be good news for both medical doctors and patients. In this paper, we describe latest results of the simultaneous segmentation of multiple organs and the diagnostic algorithms of computer so as to deal with a broad spectrum of lesion patterns.
