Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper, the effect of the beam tilting is evaluated by the system level simulation in the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM). In the cellular system, when the mobile station is in the cell edge, the delay spread of the received signal becomes large so that the inter-symbol interference (ISI) as well as the inter-carrier interference (ICI) caused by the distortion of the subcarrier's orthogonality reduces the received signal to noise plus interference power ratio (SINK). The beam tilting at the base station that is the elevation antenna pattern made by smart antenna can suppress the other cell interference. In addition, it can reduce the delay spread and thus can suppress ISI and ICI. From the result of the system level simulation, the beam pattern within the cell edge is enhanced and that outside the cell edge is suppressed by beam tilting, the received SINK can be improved so that the channel capacity becomes large.
