Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We are developing a remote communication support system including remote sign interpreting system and remote captioning system for the hearing impaired. We report the results of using the remote sign interpreting system for a symposium of Welfare Information Technology in Yakushima in May, 2005. We used a lot of image information for sign interpreters: speaker, the hearing impaired, slides, and so on in the symposium. In addition, we showed them the keyword of technical terms. In this paper, we describe the system for the symposium and the some effects of the keyword. Results show that it is necessary to show the keyword quickly as soon as speaking and the keyword has some effects for the remote sign interpreting.
