Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper reports on a proposition of a communication terminal for blind persons and deaf-blind persons who are congenitally blind and acquired hearing impaired. The terminal which is equipped with two-lined refreshable Braille display is named Doubled Braille display terminal for the Deaf-Blind person (DB4DB). To drive this terminal, software which is based on an Internet chat program is also developed. The feature of DB4DB is that the one line of the Braille display is for confirmation of inputted sentence by the user, and the other one is for reading all messages from members who take part in the chatting system through network. Using the proposed system, it is expected that the blind person and deaf-blind person can recognize words from chatting members at anytime even if he/she is inputting his/her words.
