Strictly-Comlementary and Variale Linear Phase FIR Filter Banks

Abstract(in English) A channel divider in audio systems, that is a type of filter bank, is ideally required to have strictly-comlementary property. Each filter in a channel divider is also required to be linear phase FIR. In addition, it is desired to vary the crossover of a channel divider in all audible frequencies. In this paper we propose a design of strictly-complementary and variale linear phase FIR filter banks. At first, to realize variale linear phase FIR filters we introduce a frequency transformation which is on the basis of the approximation of the impulse response of an ideal filter. We evaluate quantitative approximation errors of the frequency transformation, and propose a structure of the variable FIR filter which can decrease the data of a look-up-table. Next, using the variable FIR filters, we propose a design of strictly-comlementary and variale linear-phase FIR filter banks, which have no amplitude and phase distortion. We show that the proposed design needs less circuit complexity than designing each filter independently.
