Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Optical waveguide films are expected to be applied to the interconnection between optical interconnection boards, and to the folding mobile phones, and so on. Polymer optical waveguide can be peeled off from solid substrate, and we can get flexible optical waveguide film. So, polymer waveguide films can be applied aforementioned fields. In this study, we make two kinds of polyimide optical waveguide film. One is perfluorinated polyimide optical waveguide, which is good at transmission rate of the light-wave used in communication service. Transmission losses of the waveguide is 0.18 dB/cm at the wavelength of 1.55 μm. Another is fluorinated polyimide waveguide, whose maximum Δn is 3% and the minimum bending radius is 1mm. Moreover, we evaluate the birefringence of waveguide film and confirm the low rate of birefringence of waveguide film.
