Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | We have been developing the "Takemaru-kun" spoken information guidance system set on a real environment: the public city center ISTA in Ikoma, Nara. Following success of the system, two new spoken systems are developed and have been in operation at "Gakken-kitaikoma eki", the railway station in Ikoma, since end of Mar. 2003. One system is the "Kita-chan" system, which is fundamentally a conventional system like "Takemaru-kun", which uses CG agent system but has a touch-panel input device and allows users to access the Internet web contents. The other is "Kita-chan robot", which has a robot-like interface designed to be friendly for users. Both systems are fundamentally same in their service contents. They can respond information about the station, institutions around the station and so on, with synthetic speech and web browser output. In the response generation process, in addition to a conventional matching scoring method that compares question-example texts and speech recognition output, network grammars are newly prepared for route information and map display services. In this paper, we describe outlines of the system, and the two weeks operational result about user information of the two systems from the viewpoint of an age group. In short, the both systems are accepted to the station users and especially "Kita-chan robot" is used by any age groups. |
