Abstract(in English) Advanced Land Observing Satellite (ALOS) of JAXA was launched on January 24th in 2006, and it is operated favorably. This papar describes Phased Array Type L-Band Synthetic Aperture Radar (PALSAR), which is loaded into ALOS, especially the evaluation of PALSAR hardwere in initial check out phase. PALSAR is an active microwave sensor using L-band. It can observe in all weather. It will be used for regional environment monitoring, disaster monitoring and resource surveying.
