A CMOS Current Reference Independent of Deviation of Threshold Voltage

Abstract(in English) In this paper, a CMOS current reference independent of deviation of threshold voltage is proposed. The proposed circuit consisits of MOSFET operating at the zero-temperature-coefficient point and gives reference current which does not depend on temperature. The proposed circuit generates some voltage proportional to a deviation of the threshold voltage, because gate to sources voltage at the zero-temperature-coefficient point depends on a change of the threshold voltage. When the threshold voltage changed, MOSFET always works at the zero-temperature-coefficient point. The proposed circuit realize the constitution independent of deviation of the threshold voltage. All the threshold voltage of the MOSFETs in the current reference are equal, the proposed circuit less depends on the deviation of the threshold voltage. The proposed circuit was investigated in HSPICE. When the deviation of threshold voltage was changed from -10% to +10%, the deviation of threshold voltage coefficient of the current reference was 0.39%. Also when the temperature was changed from -25℃ to 125℃, the temperature coefficient of the current reference was 86.8ppm/℃. And when the power-supply voltage range from 2.5V to 3.5V, the power-supply voltage coefficient of the current reference was ±2.9%.
