Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The transmission of RZ pulse trains in fibers is numerically studied for 160Gbps transmission systems employing periodical dispersion-slope compensation. Two methods of dispersion-slope compensation are considered: one is the lumped compensatation at every amplifying repeater, and the other is the distributed compensation using two different fibers, each of which has the dispersion-slope with the opposite sign. In addition, the differnce in system performance is investigated in relation to the presence of dispersion-management. It is predicted that the distributed slope compensation will provide better performance than does the lumped slope compensation. This tendency will hold for systems employing dispersion-management, though the deeper dispersion-management will shorten the available transmission distance.
