Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We have proposed a method to deliver scents, through the free space, to a specific user locally. This method makes use of the principle of "air cannon," which launches vortex rings composed of scented air. However, the prototype system so far had a problem that the body of air cannon had significant volume, which makes it difficult to embed scent projectors within a limited amount of space or equipments, such as television sets or cars. To overcome this problem, we propose a guideline to make air cannons more compact, while keeping their performance of delivering scented air. We were possible to make the air cannon compact by making the body of air cannon thin, but at the same time we observed performance reduction. In this paper, we further propose another configuration of air cannon, called "pull-type", which has affordable performance though it has no volume while stand-by.
