Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) There are many news Web sites on the Web, and they are delivering many news articles with photos everyday. However, they does not provide helpful search methods for news articles over several weeks. Instead, we can gather Web news articles with photos using a consumer PC via the Internet easily. By collecting them every night automatically, we can build news database on our own PC. Then, we propose a novel news browsing system which can cluster photo news articles based on both textual features of articles and image features of news photos for a personal news database. The system enables users to browse news articles over several weeks or months visually and find out useful news easily. In this paper, we describe the design of our system, the algorithm employed in it and examples of use of the system.
