Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Amount of digital video files have been growing with spread of personal computers with TV-recording functions and broadband networks. This paper evaluates the effectiveness of video search interface on a video retrieval system designed for large amount of video files stored in personal computers. Multiple images representing segment of events (e.g., cut, camera-work) based on video indexing technology are displayed in the interface. Video file or specific scene searching tasks were given to ten participants and task elapsed time and users' feelings about work-load while doing the tasks were monitored. We found that target video files or scenes were obtained faster and with lower stress than a conventional file management system when the participants used our interface.
