Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Combining a nonreciprocal mode conversion produced by a magneto-optic effect and a reciprocal mode conversion due to LiNbO_3 gives a unidirectional mode converter. This enables one to construct a semi-leaky optical isolator. In this article, LiNbO_3 cladding layer is directly bonded with a surface activation process onto a magneto-optic Ce:YIG guiding layer. In the fabricated device, an isolation ratio of 20.2dB is observed at 1.55μm.
