Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Digital watermarking is used to protect the copyright. An error correcting code can be used to correct errors when watermark information is extracted. However, the number of error bits sometimes exceeds the error correction bound, because that large number of bits especially redundancy bits cannot be embedded into digital contents. In this study, we evaluate the error performance of the ordered statistics decoding (OSD) algorithm in the extraction of digital watermarking, which is known as a decoding that has good performance in AWGN channel. As a result, a high probability of correct decoding is obtained, even when the number of error bits exceeds the error correction bound. By introducing decoding failure (error detection) to the OSD algorithm, the decoding error probability is decreased to 1% or less even when the number of errors exceeds the error correction bound.
