Synthesize of GaN-based blue phosphors using metal EDTA complexes

Abstract(in English) As environmentally friendly materials with good conductivity, GaN has been in spot for application in Field Emission Display (FED) and Vacuum Fluorescent Display (VFD) which are promising candidates for next generation display. In this work, we synthesized Zn doped GaN (GaN:Zn) and Mg doped GaN (GaN:Mg) phosphors using metal-EDTA (Ethylenediaminetetraacetic Acid) complex. By X-ray diffraction measurement and SEM observation, pure GaN powders with about 400nm diameter and hexagonal structure are obtained. In addition, blue emission intensity increased with increasing the doping concentrations, so that the intensities reached to maximum at the doping concentration of 1%. Blue emission with wavelength around 430nm are observed for both GaN:Zn and GaN:Mg, which are due to D-A pair emission.
