Discussion on Building of Acoustic Field Simulation System with FPGA

Abstract(in English) Sound field simulations are used widely in a field of acoustic design. As performance of a computer improved, numerical simulation with analyzes a sound as wave motion came to be performed frequently. Having said that, performance of existing computers is still inadequate for the numerical analysis of acoustic phenomena based on the wave theory such as finite difference, finite element or boundary element method. In addition, a virtual acoustic system has gotten a lot of attention recently as new application of sound field simulation. To achieve such a system, higher accuracy and real-time processing are demanded and then hardware implementation of sound field becomes necessary. And then flexibility of a system is important to perform various sound field simulations. In this paper, we focus attention on discrete Huygens' model as the method that is suitable for hardware implementation. We report about designed circuit for the two-dimensional sound field simulation and the constitution method of a reconfigurable sound field simulating system.
