A study of the system management method for a carrier grade server system

Abstract(in English) To construct NGN which unified voice and data communications on an IP base network is being desired. NGN have to realize rapid service development and suppress development and operation cost. And it is required that it has high availability same to current carrier systems. In the past, developing carrier systems had realized by self development with high cost or by adapting proprietary systems. But recently, there is a trend which applies open system platform with standard interfaces to carrier systems. As a open platform hardware, ATCA (AdvancedTCA) which is blade server type is being expected for server based node system like a SIP server. In order to realize multi-vendor system in the carrier grade server platform, it is necessary to manage devices through the standardized interface. However, about the other portion, the method of system management has not been necessarily established. This paper shows the system management route and functional assignment in a centerized management method and a distributed management method in the carrier grade server platform. And we show the result of evaluation of methods based on the present technical trend.
