Abstract(in English) To realize a driver support system which is easy-to-use for elderly drivers, development of supporting method, such as an information display system and a brake assistance system, which is specifically designed for elderly drivers is needed. A method of identifying elderly drivers is necessary to realize those systems. We studied a method for classifying elderly driver from an image captured with an near infrared camera which was installed in a rearview mirrorAs a result, the method classified elderly driver with a correct detection rate of 66.7%, and non-elderly driver with a correct detection rate of 83.3%.
