Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Cross-correlation histogram (CCH) of simultaneously recorded multiple neuronal activities has widely been used to decide whether a synaptic connection between two neurons exists or not. In this report, we point out problems in accuracy of statistical testing using conventional shuffling-corrected CCH method when the contribution of shared inputs for the neurons on the CCH is strongly dependent on the lag-time of the correlation function. We propose an improved testing method utilizing the characteristics of shuffling CCH, which has only been used to cancel the effect of the shared input to the raw CCH so far. In addition, we develop a method to evaluate the intensity of the neuronal connectivity utilizing the CCH based on a simple input-output relationship of a neuron and characteristics of common driver.
