Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) When people communicate each other, it's important to recognize the relative positions in 3D space. For the case that a robot and a user communicate each other, it's also important to recognize their relative positions with objects. This paper proposes the interaction method based on the recognition of relative position and direction of user to a robot and an object. A robot guides the user to the position of the object which the user wants to get. The robot recognizes the user's position and direction by extracting user's face and hair from input image sequence, and the position of the object by extracting its color. By combining these results, the robot can recognize their relative positions, and says "go to the right 1m", "go straight 2m" and so on to guide the user. Experimental results using a communication robot are shown to demonstrate the actual interaction based on the proposed methods.
