Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) It is known that a traditional TCP (such as TCP-NewReno) has lower throughput performance over the satellite Internet. A new TCP congestion window control method called TCP-STAR to improve the throughput over the satellite Internet has been already proposed. It has been confirmed that TCP-STAR can obtain higher throughput comparing with other TCP variants by using network simulator ns2. However, it is important to evaluate the implementation of TCP-STAR. In this paper, we implement TCP-STAR in the kernel of NetBSD1.6.2-Relese. Next, we evaluate the throughput of TCP-STAR on the testbed that is established by a hardware network emulator. As a result, we found that the throughput of TCP-STAR is higher than that of other TCP variants and TCP-STAR's mechanisms work effectively over the satellite Internet. Furthermore, it is clear that the results of implementation of TCP-STAR are close to the one of simulation.
