Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) After the disastrous 1995 Kobe earthquake, a new national project has started to drastically improve seismic observation system in Japan. Under this project, National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Prevention (NIED) conducted deployment of seismic observation networks that consist of a large number of strong-motion, high-sensitivity, and broadband seismometers covering the whole of Japan. The data obtained from these networks are not only shared by various institutions for their researches but also transmitted to and processed by Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) to monitor seismic activity around Japan.
