Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper, we analyzed the handoff performance of a multi-hop based wireless LAN applied to Access Points (APs) and Terminal Repeaters (TRs). When a mobile terminal cannot establish communication with any APs, it uses other mobile terminals as TRs. The handoff criterion is based on absolute distance measurements. The performance of this system has been studied using the average number of handoffs and the probability of failure handoff. We investigated the relation between the handoff method and the handoff performance when both the mobile terminal and the terminal repeaters are moving and there is distance estimation error. Numerical results are presented to show that although the average number of handoffs increases because the TRs' moving speed increases, the handoff failure probability is not greatly affected.
