Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The authors proposed a packet relay protocol called the Intermittent Periodic Transmit which can achieve high relay efficiency for Wireless Distribution Systems. With the Intermittent Periodic Transmit, a source station intermittently sends packets with some transmit period. If the transmit period is greater than a certain threshold, packet collisions due to interference are removed. Therefore, if the Intermittent Periodic Transmit works accurately, a collision avoidance function such as used in CSMA/CA is unnecessary. This paper proposes a new MAC protocol that can maximize the effect of the Intermittent Periodic Transmit. The new MAC protocol, based on CSMA/CA, adopts passive ACK method inorder to reduce forwarding overhead. Simulation results ensure higher throughput achieved by the Intermittent Periodic Transmit associated with the new MAC protocol in comparison with a conventional forwarding.
