Abstract(in English) This paper proposes a new burst synchronization method of Uplink Preamble-less demodulators for the wide-area ubiquitous network. The traffic of the wide-area ubiquitous networkwill be dominated by short packets such as radio-frequency identification (RF-ID) information. Taking this condition into account, the transmission efficiency degradation caused by overhead symbols such as preamble and pilot symbols is not negligible. The proposed method eliminates preamble symbols in order to improve the transmission efficiency, while pilot symbols are reserved for accurate burst synchronization. With the proposed method, burst synchronization such as frame acquisition, carrier recovery, symbol timing recovery, and phase tracking can be achieved for coherent detection. Computer simulation results show that the proposed method achieves an 11~22% improvement in transmission efficiency, while its packet error rate performance is equivalent to that conventional demodulators utilizing preamble symbols.
