Abstract(in English) | Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM)^<[1]> has been applied widely to various wireless systems including Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN), Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB), Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB) and so on due to its high spectral efficiency and robustness against multipath fading. Aiming at further performance improvement, it has been considered to combine Adaptive Array Antennas (AAA) with OFDM. However, although various methods have been proposed, most of all conventional methods require an assumption that the OFDM symbol timing is given prior to the weight control for AAA. It should be paid attention that this assumption results in a serious impairment such that AAA cannot carry out beamforming and compensation for fading if the input SNR is not sufficiently high to achieve the a priori symbol timing detection. In this paper, we propose a unique new scheme that accomplishes the symbol timing detection and beamforming concurrently without any preambles. It is expected that the proposed method matches with the software defined radio platform. Since it does not require any preambles, the proposed scheme can detect and demodulate the received signal even under the environments in which it has been tough by conventional AAAs for OFDM. The performance of the proposed method is examined through computer simulations. |
