Interaction between Human and Human-like Agent with Gaze and Facial Expression : Brain Activity Analysis of HCI using fMRI

Abstract(in English) Human's communication is performed by not only verbal information but nonverbal information such as direction of a head and a gaze, facial expression, gesture, a paralanguage, etc. We have paid our attention to the role of nonverbal information in HCI (Human-Computer Interaction) applications. Based on our evaluation results of users' impression using SD method (semantic differential method), we propose hypotheses that brain activity of an interpretation human's interaction is different, and good impression is emphasized by the interaction. By using fMRI (functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging) we investigate the roles of the nonverbal information of the human-like agent. We show the neural mechanism about the interpretation of user's interaction from the brain activity analysis during an interaction with an agent.
