Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) To search locally similar regions in DNA sequences is important to analyze DNA sequences because the similar regions are acknowledged to express meaningful information. The locally similar region is called a motif. However, it is difficult to extract the motifs from DNA sequences because of its huge combination number. Thus, exhaustive search for all candidates is not practical. We have already proposed a new method to extract the motifs using chaotic search method. The chaotic search is an approach combining a heuristic algorithm and a chaotic dynamics. The chaotic search method exhibits higher performance than the conventional methods. Then, effects of refractoriness realized in chaotic neurodynamics have a valuable role in finding motifs. In this report, we further investigate the effects of the refractoriness of the chaotic neurodynamics using four patterns of the refractoriness. As a result, we discovered important relationship between strength after a firing and temporal attenuation of the refractoriness.
