Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We present a new implementation scheme of the dual energy X-ray CT(Computed Tomography) by applying asymmetric absorption filter in front of the multi-spectrum X-ray tube. Today's ordinary X-ray CT are equipped with symmetrically shaped absorption filter called 'bow-tie filter' in front of the X-ray tube. In our new scheme only by exchanging this bow-tie filter for an asymmetric filter, the function of the energy selective reconstruction can be achieved with one-time 360 degree scan based on the dual-energy principle. This scheme has enough potential to overcome drawbacks of conventional implementation approaches for the dual-energy CT, such as requirements of switching voltages of X-ray tube, mechanically changing filters or increeasing number of sensors or tube. In this paper we introduce a basic idea of asymmetric filter and propose a prototype of designing method for optimum shape of the filter using computer simulations. To show validity of the presented scheme some numerical experiments are performed.
