Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Among serum low density lipoproteins (LDL), small dense LDL (sdLDL) is a new risk factor of coronary artery diseases. To realize simpler measurement of sdLDL than conventional methods, we propose a technique based on the principle of dynamic light scattering. The performance of the developed system was evaluated using the latex beads of size-standard. The possibility of LDL-sizing was confirmed in the measurement of the LDL fraction obtained by gel-filtration chromatography. The measurement of the sera from the patients with hypertriglyceridemia and normal subjects suggested the practical applicability of the proposed technique to the detection of sdLDL.
