Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We are studying about a new approach for a 60-GHz mm-wave sector switchable antenna for the gigabit rate wireless local area networks. For a sector switching device of this antenna, we have investigated the feasibility of achieving a waveguide switch structure by using a varactor diode. We adopted a dynamic Q factor obtained from the computer simulation for an evaluation criterion of the performance of the varactor. We defined the operation bandwidth of this switch as the bandwidth which the return loss is less or equal 1dB at the off-state and the insertion loss is less or equal 3dB at the on-state. It was confirmed that the dynamic Q factor of the varactor should be greater than 11 to realize the above low-loss condition within 3GHz operation bandwidth at the 60 GHz band.
