Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We propose a new system structure which improve the Water Fall region characteristics of serially concatenated trellis-coded modulation (SCTCM). The conventional system of the SCTCM cannot obtain the coding gain due to the code rate of the inner encoder is equal to 1. Therefore, the proposed system adds the puncutre to the output of the outer encoder, and redueces the code rate of the inner encoder. Thus, the proposed system is able to obtain the coding gain of the inner encoder, and the proposed system is expected to improve the lower E_b/N_o region characteristics. Amount of improvement of Water Fall region characteristics changes by the puncture of the output of the outer encoder. Then, we propose a search method for optimum pattern which improves the water Fall region characteristics significantly. The optimum pattern of the proposed system is obtained 0.75[dB] improvement of the Water Fall region characteristics comaperd with conventional system of SCTCM at BER 10^<-4>.
