Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Authenticated Encryption (AE) is a mechanism to encapsulating a data by encrypting it and attaching its message authentication code. In this paper we examine to construct an AE algorithm based on MUGI, which was designed by Hitachi. We show that it is possible to construct an AE with only an additional (64-bitwise) XORing. Despite of its simplisity, a MAC forgery attack based on differential cryptanalysis is successful with the probability 2^<-102> so that it looks impractical to forge the communication channel encapsulated by the AE.
