Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We demonstrate a widely tunable terahertz (THz)-wave parametric oscillator (TPO) in a surface-emitted cavity configuration in which a pump beam and idler beam are reflected totally at one surface of the nonlinear crystal. The surface-emitted TPO is consists of the MgO:LiNbO_3 nonlinear crystals and two high-performance mirrors. We obtained continuous tuning form 0.8 to 2.74THz. The radiated THz wave has a Gaussian profile. The measured beam quality factors (M^2) were 1.15 and 1.25 in the horizontal and vertical directions, respectively. A test of transmission imaging using a test pattern was demonstrated. The output enhancement by simultaneous up-scaling the pump energy and pump beam size was achieved and the maximum output energy was measured to be 600pJ/pulse at 1.42THz
