Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We review recent progress in photonic and electronic devices for millimeter-wave (MMW) wireless links and sensing. 0/E conversion of optical signals that are modulated at MMW to sub-THz frequency is suitable for generating MMW and sub-THz radio waves. As for electronic devices, we showed that wireless communication MMIC using InP HEMTs have realized the function of amplification, modulation and demodulation at a frequency of over 100GHz. We have succeeded in 10-Gbit/s data transmission over a 120-GHz-band wireless link using these photonic and electronic devices. We have built sensing systems using photonic devices, such as electro-optic crystals, and showed its wide bandwidth and low invasiveness.
