Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | We proposed a rate control method for video coding to achieve a requested subjective quality. In general, a subjective quality of video is strongly affected by the part with the lowest quality. Therefore, in order to achieve the requested subjective quality efficiently, it is necessary to restrain the temporal variation of subjective quality. This approach requires variable bit rate, variable frame rate video coding, and estimation methods of subjective quality. We already proposed such method for temporal quality (motion smoothness) and spatial quality (quality of each frame). Applying these methods allows us to develop a simple method for achieving the requested subjective quality. Moreover, we implemented the proposed method on the general MPEG-4 encoder. Experimental results show that the proposed method satisfy the requested quality. |
