Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This report proposes a location based routing protocol named RFRR (Restricted Flooding Road based Routing) in the Ad Hoc Sensor Traffic Information System (ASTIS), which is a distributed traffic information collecting system. RFRR transmits packets along roads by utilizing the information in road maps; this can mitigate the effect of communication failure caused by obstacles such as buildings. RFRR can transmit packets successfully with high probability by selecting trunk roads as a route for forwarding the packets, since there are many vehicles on trunk roads. To evaluate the effectiveness of RFRR, we performed computer simulation. In the simulation, we compared the performance of RFRR, FLOODING, and BLR (Beacon-Less Routing), which is a location based routing protocol. As a result, we found that RFRR is suitable for transmission of real-time information in environments where trunk roads and buildings exist.
