Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Most of handwritten character patterns on wooden tablets are damaged. If a reader supplements information on missing part, damaged character patterns are better recognized. We propose a method that applies non-linear normalization and feature extraction for binary character patterns with missing part supplements. The proposed method realizes 60.2% as the 10th cumulative rate for 2,108 character patterns extracted from wooden tablets with partial damages applied artificially. This result is better than the result of the previous method.
