Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Recently, as the weight of the social activities in the Net becomes greater, problems such as online auction fraud and phishing are becoming more serious, so identity management systems are regaining the attention. But there are many people who concern those systems may eliminate vested anonymity that has protected the privacy and the freedom of speech in the Net. Identity escrow is a potential solution for coexistence of identity management and anonymity. It provides anonymity with a person in usual situations but has ability to disclose her/his identity when necessary. We have been researching a decentralized identity escrow scheme code-named DECIDE that has three tiers: anonymity, pseudonymity, and identity. In this paper we discuss about anonymity, pseudonymity, and identity, and show the models of identity escrow including DECIDE.
