Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) An image database has become huge because digital equipments spread and capacity of storage media increased. Therefore, technology that retrieves a desired image has become more important. We took account of user's query generation cost and reproducibility, proposed an image retrieval system. The image retrieval system equips query generation interface that a user can represent the desired image without cost in low resolution. In addition, matching process that compares a calculated metadata from images with a user's query is based on position information of a color. However, the user may have difficulty representing a query for low resohution. Then, retrieval accuracy deteriorates because the user vaguely selects a color. This paper proposed an image retrieval system allowing vague position information on a query that the user generated. The experimental results showed that accuracy of the proposed system is improved.
