Experimental investigations of ergonomic requirements for luminance of LCD-TV screens

Abstract(in English) We investigated experimentally the luminance requirements for black level and peak white level of LCD-TVs when viewing under different ambient light conditions. The results indicate that the required black-level luminance Lb was described as following formula: Lb=0.112×Ei^<0.42>, where Ei is a screen illuminance. The required white-level luminance Lw was described as following formula: Lw=k×La^α. Where k is a constant, La is an adaptation luminance, and α is a constant 0.26-0.35 for aged users and 0.35-0.43 for young users. Influences of aging and adaptation luminance on the luminance requirements for LCD-TVs were discussed.
