Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In order to realize the wide viewing angle liquid crystal display (LCD), it is very important to solve the problem of the grayscale inversion. In this research, to examine the cause of the grayscale inversion, we analyzed the change of polarization state of light which passes through the LC cell by using the Mueller matrix method. We clarified the cause of the grayscale inversion and showed the design condition of the high transmittance and wide viewing angle LCD without grayscale inversion.
