Abstract(in English) | Optically compensated bend (OCB) mode liquid crystal displays (LCDs), which have fast response, require an initial transition from a splay alignment to a bend alignment before operation. We analyzed about the creating nuclei of transition and clarified the condition to form the nuclei. Based on this result, we established the method of creating the nuclei by using two twist alignments (twist disclination method). Moreover, the methods of using partial alignment treatment and entire-surface alignment treatment were derived and the initial transition can be induced successfully. |
