Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We fabricated organic thin film transistors (OTFTs) with a solution process and measured the characteristics. Isolating the organic semiconductor is definitely needed to use in a practical panel. We etched the organic semiconductor layer by O_2 plasma Reactive Ion Etching (RIE) with the gold cover metal as a mask. We observed transistor characteristics even for an OTFT with the isolated organic semiconductor in the actual device size, though some degradation was induced by the isolation process. Hence we demonstrated the possibility that we can apply it to a flat panel display. Additionally, we discussed the influence on the transistor characteristics, especially on and off current, depending on size of isolated transistors.
