Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Extension and flexion of forearm involve cooperation of many muscles. It is said that communication exists between the peripheral muscles and the sensorimotor cortex which controls movement functions in the brain [?]. This communication only occurs at a specific wave oscillation and the drive signal form the primary motor cortex only arrives at peripheral muscle in part consists of the drive signal. Recent studies on cortico-muscular synchronization using EEG have demonstrated significant coherence between primary motor cortex and EMG activity in the beta frequency band (15-30Hz) during isometric contraction of muscle However , research on isotonic contraction was very few and limited in scope. Therefore, present study investigated coherence between EEG and EMG during extension and flexion of forearm. In conclusion, There exists coherence just before the onset of flexion in the range of 8~13Hz and high frequency band(70~150Hz). And during flexion we observed significant coherence in the range of 8~13Hz. On the contrary, during extension we observed significant coherence in the range of 15~30Hz.
