Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This short note presents a new approach to the optimum demodulation of digital signals. Regardless of modulation schemes, transmitted signals were demodulated as a time function of signal amplitude and were decoded at the output of decision devices. In contrast with the conventional way, we observe the demodulated N symbols from spectrum space and express them as an N-dimensional complex vector. This vector is compared with prepared template vectors. The pattern-matching decoding is equivalent to the maximum likelihood decoding. The proposed method is effective to the block-coded FEC systems and the BER performances are evaluated. This note also shows the carrier synchronization algorithm that is realized by utilizing the spectral components of preamble signals for timing recovery.
