Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This report proposes a transmit antenna selection scheme for eigenbeam multi-input multi-output with orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (MIMO-OFDM) in wireless LANs; its feature is subcarrier-dependent selection. The proposed scheme selects the best subset of transmit antennas by employing the determinant of a sub-matrix of the estimated MIMO channel matrix. This report also introduces the eigenbeam MIMO-OFDM testbed with field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs). It is found that the proposed eigenbeam three-select-two scheme offers a significant reduction in computational complexity from the eigenbeam-only scheme at the cost of a slight (approximately 0.2 dB) degradation in required carrier-to-noise power ratio (CNR).
